Megan Kennedy: My life as an Actress in Japan

A couple weeks ago I did a Web CM for Panasonic. The website is part of the launch to change the old Japanese brand name National into the brand name used abroad Panasonic. Electronics such as Air Conditioners and Vacuum Cleaners who once went by National will now be Panasonic.

Hey Everyone!!  Sorry for the lack of posts but its been a crazy few weeks. Just finished my Hair Show Tour across Japan.  The Tour was done by a Los Angeles Hair School called “J’s Hair Studio Academy”  On the tour we traveled to Shizuoka, Kobe, Chiba, Tokyo, Okayama, Wakayama and Ashikaga, it was nice hang out with English speakers for a couple of weeks!!! I actually felt like a tourist again! Along with the Hair Shows we also did Photo shoots at different Schools where Hair and Makeup Students practiced on Foreigner Models. Here are a few pictures from the shoot!!!!

Over the next two weeks I will be doing a Hair Show Tour across Japan.

Last week I did a really cool job. My agency called me up and asked me if I would represent Canada by singing our National Anthem for an Internet Documentary.  There were people from all over the world (who live in Japan) singing their countries anthem. I felt really proud representing Canada all the way over here in Japan!!  It was an amazing experience! GO CANADA!!!!!

Well somehow I managed to do it. Learned my lines and went to Osaka to perform in the World Wide Kids Show.  The show went over really well. The stage, set, props, and performers were amazing. Many people showed up for the shows and many kids went home happy!!! I love performing for kids it makes my job really rewarding.  We will be performing two more shows Aug 30 and 31st in Tokyo.  Here are some pictures of the previous Benesse “World Wide Kids English Global Live Show” I did in April. Hey everyone sorry for the lack of posts. It has been a busy summer. I just got back from a 3 week vacation across Canada. My trip started in beautiful Vancouver Island where I was a Bridesmaid for my Best Friends Wedding. My Dad came to the wedding and we traveled back to Vancouver for a few days. Checking out beautiful Steveston ( a fun little fishing community). There are so many Japanese in Vancouver it almost makes you feel like you are still in Japan! HAHA Its great!

I then spent a week in Calgary with my Dad and Step Mom Cindy. I went for a ride with my Dad on his Harley Davidson across the countryside and also checked out the Calgary Stampede which had an amazing 3 hour parade!!!

My trip then led me to the other side of Canada back to my home Newfoundland.  My  Twin Sisters had no idea I was coming home.  I showed up for their Birthday and I will never forget the surprised look on their faces. I then spent the rest of the week relaxing with my Mom. We went to Gros Morne National park and went on the “Western Brook Pond Boat Tour” (the most breathtaking beauty you will ever see). We also went to a play called “Vive La Rose” at the Stephenville Theatre Festival, this play was incredible. It had such a simple set, intimate atmosphere, great story and talented Actors/Musicians.  It really reminded me of what the Theatre is all about.

After 3 great weeks my trip was over. On the plane back to Tokyo it was then time to get back to work.  I had to learn a 60 page script for a play I was doing in Osaka 2 days later.  I’m thinking………… vacation’s over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a picture from a TV Drama I did called “Kimi Hannnin Janai Yone?“. So much fun! The picture is from a scene where the main actress (Japanese) is at a bus stop sleeping and falls off the bench. We rush over to see if she is ok and I think she is very suprised to see three foreigners standing above her talking really fast asking her is she is alright. Who knew foreigners could be so scary!!!

This Picture is from a Hair Show I did in Tokyo. The show had many Models modelling for many different Hair Salons. The Salon I modelled for was called “Friends”. The theme was mythical goddess. It was great except for the rehearsal, I kept tripping over my dress! It was a bit too long and I don’t think a mythical goddess would fall flat on her face!! So thankfully the amazing stylists hemmed it and I was able to walk!!!

This is a picture from a Commercial I did for Nissin U.F.O. Noodles. I was a cheerleader….so much fun!!!! The commercial is about a Noodle eating competition between the American team and Kanjani8, the seven member idol group. I play one of the cheerleaders cheering for the American team!! The commecial also featuresPro-Wrestler Don Frye (The Predator)

Today an article came out about me in my hometown Newspaper “The Western Star“. It was very exciting as it’s been the first thing published about my career to my town. So if any of my family and friends are reading this just know I love you and miss you all!! It also mentioned my blog so anyone checking this out please bare with me as I will be updating new articles every day. Stay tuned………..
